The Low Down On Finding Content For Your Blog

How many times have you sat and stared helplessly at a blank screen? You want to create a great article but you’re well of inspiration has run dry. If this has happened to you, then you know the truth...

Writer’s block bites!

Don´t give up though, there is hope. Social media holds unlimited potential for businesses of any size.
It can help you grow your brand and connect you with a larger pool of prospective customers. And if you know HOW to look, you may just stumble upon the topic for your next article.

There are, however, some things to consider when browsing your Twitter feed or Facebook pages for inspiration. Social media is constantly updated with new content. If it is being discussed anywhere, you will find it on social media. The possibilities are endless.

Once you find your topic it’s time to get creative.  Knowing what works is no longer enough. If you want to stand out , you will have to find an angle that sets you apart from the crowd.

“And to be different is great. You don't want to be the same.” -Kristen Johnston

Here are some tips to help you get started using social media to find your next topic:

#1 Research a topic on LinkedIn
LinkedIn Pulse is a great place to see what others are discussing. Look for posts and articles that have done well and create similar content with your own spin on it. While you’re there, look for others who share your interest and connect with them. Read their content and leave a comment. Who knows, you might find a great influencer you can learn from.

#2 Research a topic on Twitter
If you want to find content relevant to your interests, put a # in front of your keyword and put it into the search bar. Hashtags rule on Twitter so this method will pull up every tweet and image with your hashtag. And, if you plan to use Twitter to drive traffic to your blog, take note of what hashtags are being used for your topic so you can use them to reach your targeted audience.

#3 Watch social media groups
Have you joined any groups on LinkedIn, Facebook or any social channel?  If you haven’t, you should. You can use these groups to see what is going on in your niche. The best part is they are usually full of comments and questions. You may even find a comment that gets everyone talking. This is a good indicator of a popular topic.

While it isn’t the only source I use, social media is my go to source for finding inspiration for my next blog post. What is yours? Share them in the comments below.
