The Secret of How to Succeed in Marketing

I am going to share with you some gold nuggets I learned from a webinar I recently had the privilege of listening to. But before I do, I want to ask you an important question. Why are you in Marketing? What do you hope to achieve? Do you simply want to get rich or do you have a desire to help others? Okay that was several question but they are all important and I am going to tell you why they are important to your success later on.

The webinar Inside the Mind of Successful Network Marketing Women featured seventeen speakers. All of these women share one common trait-their desire to help others while helping themselves.

One of the keys to success in business is to work on yourself first. You can´t help others if you can´t first help yourself. Attending events and watching what successful people in your industry do will help. Once you do that and become a leader who inspires others to step out of their comfort zones and change what is wrong in their lives, the pieces of the networking puzzle will start to fall into place. But this practice is not a one and done effort. We should continually work to develop and improve ourselves.

I once heard that the longest journey begins with the first step. If we stand still, we will never move forward.
Get out of your comfort zone and take that first step to pursue meaningful life goals. Find out your WHY. Why do you want to build your business?  Find out your WHAT. What do you want out of life-what are your goals? What do you want to change in your life? Answer these questions and you will take the first step of your journey to success. This is just the first step.
To stay motivated and on the right path, surround yourself with positive people. Surround yourself with people you can learn from. Surround yourself with people who inspire you to learn more about yourself and the business you are in. Ask yourself  "What experience do I want to have in this business?" What does a perfect day look like? What does it feel like? How do I want my team to feel about me? When we care more about who we are becoming than what we are achieving, we become the CEO( chief experience officer) of our business.
We all experience negativity but it's how we handle it that makes the difference. Look for the silver lining and you will find it. Get caught up in the negativity around you and you will get distracted from your goals…you will fail.
We all struggle with different things when it comes to building a business. For some of us it´s confidence. We doubt our abilities. We are our own worst enemies. To succeed, we have to overcome self doubt. Believe in yourself and what you are doing. Turn your "I cant's into "I cans." If you don’t have faith in yourself, how do you expect to lead or inspire others. When your belief is strong, you are unstoppable.
There are three areas of belief:  1). your belief level- on a scale of 1-10 how confident are you in what you are doing?  2). Your belief in your business model- do you believe in your company and what it stands for? And 3). Your belief in yourself-  this is usually the most difficult of the three.
I just talked about getting out of our comfort zones. In order to do that, we have to realize that it is okay to fail. If we fear failure, it will show up in our business.
Think of failure as a learning tool. When we first start out in network marketing, we don’t know the terminology. We are asking ourselves what is prospecting?
Immersion in the industry is the best way to learn. Remember I told you to surround yourself with people you can learn from. We have to realize that when we first start out, we are probably going to be terrible. Think back to the first prospect you talked to. I probably left mine scared and confused. Don’t let being terrible stop you. Go out and talk to people. The more you do it, the more you will learn and the better you will become.
Lisa Grossmaann said that after twenty hours of talking to people, you will improve. We will see where we failed and learn from it. We will improve our techniques.
Persistence and consistency are two more important keys to a successful business. Never give up! We all have obligations outside of our business. We all feel overwhelmed at times.
Whitney Husband gave some great advice. She said to prioritize. Ask yourself what are the most important tasks you will do everyday in your business? Whitney also said to work our business everyday. It is our job.
Kierston Kirschbaum had some more great advice. After you ask yourself what are the most important tasks, ask yourself what impact they will have on your business. Focus on the income producing activities. Expand your network, learn more about your company.
Now that we are learning and earning, we have some important tips to remember. Do not spend more than you earn.
Kathleen Degglemann gave some great advice on this point. Be smart with your money. Save more than you spend. She advised spending 10% for fun while saving 80%. Give some away to make a difference in someone's life. Donate to your favorite charity, set up a scholarship fund. The possibilities are as limited as our imaginations. Last but not least, set aside money for taxes. Uncle Sam will demand his share and you don't want to be unprepared when you get his bill.
So far, we have worked on ourselves, surrounded ourselves with positive people we can learn from, worked to overcome our fears and planned and prioritized our daily tasks, and put some money aside.
Our work is not finished yet. We still have a couple more things left to do. We need to create our story and become great storytellers. Our goal is to be the person everyone wants to listen to. Sounds like leadership doesn't it?
By talking and sharing what we have learned with others, we inspire them. Once we inspire people and convince them to follow us, the money will follow. Have we reached our destination? Have we achieved success? Those are questions only you can answer for yourself. Ask yourself…have you learned all you can about your business? Have you met all of your goals? Is your business big enough or do you want to take it the next level? These questions will help give you your answer. Until next time, I wish you success in all you do.
